Lorem ipsum again

This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks. This is some sample text, to check how it looks.

I’ve used this dummy text a lot too. And this is a direct explanation why the Lorem Ipsum filler text is used, when you don’t have a lot of inspiration to write something quick just to see how it looks:

  • It doesn’t have to mean anything if you just wants to see how it looks.

  • You can just copy it instead of writing anything yourself.

  • It isn’t repetitive like the text above.

  • Many professional designers use it. It makes you look really cool. Hehe, nah, just kidding ^_^

What really important is, is that the text isn’t too short, so it isn’t repetitive. That way, you can easier see how the text looks, and change its properties: font type, size, line height, letter spacing, word spacing, margins, justification… everything. You can’t really judge the right looks with “This is some sample text, to check how it looks.” I hope this has been a useful lesson ^_^.

Oh, by the way, my NedStat counter went past 25.000 over last night. That’s over 4.150 pagehits on average, each year, for the last 6 years. Not too bad, eh?

Standard dummy text

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet,

consetetur sadipscing elitr,

sed diam nonumy eirmod

tempor invidunt ut labore

et dolore magna aliquyam erat,

sed diam voluptua.

At vero eos et accusam et

justo duo dolores et ea rebum.

Stet clita kasd gubergren,

no sea takimata sanctus est.

For some of those of you who design stuff (maybe this is more pointed to people who also have designed something for print), you’ve probably come across to the “Lorem ipsum” text: pretty much used as a dummy text, just to see how a design looks with text in it. I wonder why a latin text is used for that.

It would be funny to make a website only with this dummy text. So, a website that’s made only for its design, but a design which requires some text.

I wonder if there are actually used filler texts in English. Or even in Dutch, Indonesian or Chinese, and what they would be about… Anyway, here’s a Lorem Ipsum website, which also includes an English translation of the passage.

Layouts

Okay, the next layout change will be on 3 March, and I am already bored with it. It looks too normal, it’s too “me”. It’s basically a white background, with only images at the top and bottom of the page. I’ll probably put a few variations of Shattered Sprinkles online when it’s done, so I won’t get too bored.

In the meantime, I’ve been surfing around the world for some neat looking websites again, and I guess that inspired me again. It’s not that just one particular site inspired me, bits and pieces here and there inspired me. Here’s a little preview of what I made of it so far.

Green spongy cake and green fluffy stuff

So my mom gave me some cake a couple of weeks ago. I call it sponge cake, because I don’t know the actual name. It’s this green, really soft cake, and the outside layer is brown. Anyway, my mom gave the cake to me some time ago, and I forgot all about it. So guess what happened? There were all sorts of other green fluffy stuffs growing on it.

Eww.

So, last year

I was wondering what I was doing last year on 14 February and on my birthday 3 March. But I guessed I skipped I skipped those in my weblog.

Yesterday I was organising my digital picture library, I discovered some pictures that I made on 3 March last year. They were made around 22:50, picture of flowers near my home, at night. Pretty cool pictures, I need to go do something with them someday (like in a layout or something).

Oh, and my digital picture library. That’s basically a folder on my computer with a little over 400 picture stashed in it.

First drawing in ages

It’s been a while since I drew something.
Here’s a rough sketch.

I know, I know, they don’t have real hands yet, and their arms are too short, and there’s lots more wrong too. But at least it looks sweet. At least, I think it does.

Blessings

In response to “Falling in love, commitment, relationship” there were two reactions:

Charis wrote: “Well, we’re humans after all, and sometimes we have difficulty believing that God knows the best for us. But even in those times of distrust, our Father in heaven loves us. Isn’t that incredible? :) Focus on Jesus, the rest will come easy. :)”

And Max wrote: “Exactly… Matthew 6:33… You don’t have to chase blessings… blessings will chase after you.”

When things are going worse, I easily tend to forget the blessings that God is already giving me each day.

Life. Water. Food. A home.

Family. Friends, my dear dear friends.

And I don’t have to search for blessings. It will rain blessings. Wow, amazing ^_^.

Anyway, this doesn’t mean I’m 100% happy and that I have no sadness whatsoever.

I’m still struggling and trying to figure out, and trying to comprehend to at least understand a little of how great God is.

Vredevol

Falling in love, commitment, relationship

In response to my previous entry, Charis responded: “It DOES take a lot of commitment to be in a relationship. My pastor advised that it’s not wise to get involved in one if you’re not happy on your own. If you’re not happy single, you won’t be happy attached. Why bring misery to the other person as well? Heh.

And yeah, it’s so true.

I can’t believe I wasted all my time looking for the wrong thing, while God already planned everything in His time and when it’s time for me, love will find me, instead of me having to look for it without finding.

So…

I don’t want to go boasting, but I don’t want to be unsure anymore… to some extent. Because it is part of my personality. And I just want to be myself. And feel good about it.

Also, I have to train myself, gain experience with my commitment and relationship to Jesus. It’s sometimes… well, not just sometimes. It’s a lot of times hard to trust Jesus all the time. I have to try not to stop falling in love with Jesus. I’m sure He loves me too. And I’m thankful for that.

Okay that’s it for today, God bless all!

Trying to figure everything out

I was chatting with a friend a few days ago. She told me that, once in a while, she longed to be single again. Because it takes a lot of commitment to always keep thinking about “that person”, you have to think about what you can or can’t do. Another friend used the word “burden” for that.

Anyway, my friend saying she wanted to be single once in a while again… her saying that made me thinking. If someone is telling he or she wants to be single, then there must be good points of being single.

Truthfully, I’ve never seen it in this way until recently. I read it in a book a bit, but hearing it from your friends makes it more real.

I think God just tells me that it’s way not the right time for me to get involved in a relationship someone yet. I think I have to be able to enjoy being single, I have to figure more stuff out about who I am or who I can be, before I can step into the phase of a relationship.

I should like myself more. Why?

God has given life to me.

God has made me.

And I should be proud of that.

I have to be proud of who I am.

Yeah, go Kenneth!
