No images, but songs :)

I always wanted to do more than just text in my weblog. That’s why you always find so many images here. But I also want to try out new stuff: Sound bites.

Here’s one of my favorite Christian worship songs:
Eagles Wings.mp3, 1.74mb, length: 1:54.
Yes, that is my voice, and my guitar.

I recorded my crappy guitar playing on the song Here Without You by 3 Doors Down. So here’s an acoustic guitar instrumental version by me:
Here Without You (Instr).mp3, 2.98mb, length: 3:15.
Instrumental only.

[PS: I edited the previous post, and moved the Here Without You thing to this post, and moved the comments on that too.] [Soundbites moved to the Music section]

Behind the Scenes of InspireLight.net

A little behind-the-scenes image now. Because this site is pretty much a whole project: 200 pages, 150 images, 190 blog entries, 2700 gallery pictures. With each layout change, those 200 pages are affected.

Now more on the layout: Before I actually publish a layout, it undergoes many changes even before it goes online. I save all those versions and I even document when I started making each (sub) version. The original Photoshop files for this 24th layout are 45mb total on my computer.

And with, at least each layout version change, I make a copy of my whole site and save it on a seperate place on my harddrive, so I have a backlog of all old versions of my website. It’s fun to look at what I’ve made, now and then. Check the layout gallery with a selection of all the layouts that I made for this site.

Kacang Atom

Okay, the bag of M&M’s was long gone yesterday. Annoying little candy chocolate peanuts. But they are just so sweet. And my hand just automatically moves itself from and back to the bag of M&M’s and my mouth. And now they’re… gone. Forever.

But I still have these “garlic coated peanuts” (kacang atom) left.

The cold should go away. I don’t feel too good. I hope it’s only just a cold and no fever or anything. And no, I’m not feeling sick because of all the peanuts. Really.

Here Without You

I’m supposed to perform a song with my sister on my uncle’s birthday party next Saturday, but I still have no idea which song, and my sister doesn’t know yet either. And I don’t see her until Friday. Maybe I should cancel the little performance.

Ecila’s site inxx mentioned the song Here Without You by 3 Doors Down. And now I’m in love with that song. I can play it on my guitar now. But some parts of that song are a bit too high for me, so I probably won’t sing this song either next Saturday.

Anyway, I’m gonna strum on my guitar and sing with Here Without You in my room. Sing with me…

A hundred days had made me older
since the last time that I saw your pretty face
A thousand lights had made me colder
and I don’t think I can look at this the same

But all the miles had separate
They disappeared now when I’m dreaming of your face

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time

I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight it’s only you and me

The miles just keep rolling
as the people either way to say hello
I’ve heard this life is overrated
but I hope it gets better as we go

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time

I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me

Everything I know, and anywhere I go
it gets hard but it won’t take away my love
And when the last one falls, when it’s all said and done
it get hard but it won’t take away my love

I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time

I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me

The challenge of the line in the supermarket

Okay, this always happens to me. I was doing groceries this afternoon, and it was pretty busy. So when I put everything in my basket that I needed (and some of which that I didn’t really need), I went over to pay.

So I picked the line which seemed to me would go fastest. But, as it was busy, another register just opened, and I went over to the new line.

And you can just guess what happens. The line I‘m in turns out to be the slowest. You know, life is just unfair like that. Even in supermarkets.

This period, all classes are soo early. And I have the habit of going to bed late. In the weekends I still have Chinese school on Saturdays and church on Sunday morning. So I wish there was an extra day where I could sleep late to catch up sleep.

I’m sleepy. Are you sleepy too?

From and to the trainstation

In high school, I used to bicycle to school every school day. That was around 40 minutes to school and 40 minutes back home, a total of about 22 kilometers.

Nowadays I usually only bicycle from and to the trainstation, 2 times a week. Other than that I don’t really have that much physical exercise. Except maybe from the ballroom/latin dancing lessons, after which I’m usually exhausted.

I should move more. Maybe. If I feel like it. Maybe if it’s summer again I’ll go skate, but it’s way too cold out there.

PS: Taking pictures while bicycling can be challenging.

The design process of a flyer

In preparation for a Chinese New Year party next year, I’ve been kind of asked to design flyers. And you know what? Creating something for others is hard. Designing for something is hard. I mean, usually I make stuff for myself, for my own sites and all that. But this was for someone else.

And so it happens, my first tryout didn’t get approved. So they cooked up something themselves. But I just couldn’t let them have that design printed, I just couldn’t. I just can’t call those flyers. So I mixed the two different designs up and made them mine again.

Mr. Potatohead

I had to do a 3D animation class at school. So I made this together with my classmate Rahanna. Okay, this little thingy took hours to make, for a measly 14 seconds. I now know the pain and hard work for all those special effects in movies.

14 whopping seconds without a background or sound. Maybe it should be a trilogy, and the rest is still pending. Maybe. Or not.

New design

Version 24. I hope you guys and girls like it. I started working on this design on 15 October, so it took about a month. I titled it “Burst” for the thingy in the top-left corner. I was told my previous layout looked really soothing for the eye. I’m sorry that this one is a bit less soothing, hehe. But it looks great. Go look.
