Let a tear

Taken: 29 September 2007, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

It will still take a couple of years before the new Rotterdam Centraal Station (Central Station) is done. Before, the text said “Rotterdam Centraal” but they changed it to “Traan Laten” which means Let a tear (out)“.

Sorry any of the reflections that you might see.
The picture was taken from behind a window.

In the Netherlands, one of the excuses for being late can be “the bridge was open”.

In how many other countries can this be a valid excuse for being late?

Night scenery

Taken: 29 September 2007, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Ah, a piece of night scenery. Or not? A month ago, a few organizations organized the Nacht van de Nacht (Night of the Night). It is organized to make people more aware of light pollution. And this light is polluting the environment in multiple ways.

Most of the lights that shine at night are only decorative in function, if those are turned off we’d save a lot of energy. Not all lights or street lights give a sense of security or safety. Without all those unnecessary lights, we’d save lots of energy (and thus pollution and such), but also maintainance costs. And except for saving energy and costs, we’d also gain something.

We’d gain the ability to see the stars at night.
Even in a city.

The organizers of the night also had a photo contest. Too bad most of the pictures that people sent it were exactly of light pollution. Just as this picture is: All you can see is the light scenery of a city.

I want to see the stars.

Together

Taken: 31 December 2006, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Is together better than being alone? There’s all this buzz about single being at least as good as being in a relationship, I even saw a snippet on Oprah a couple of weeks ago. And they were arguing about how a person being single is as normal as a person in a relationship and vice versa. Why they had a discussion like that? Who knows.

But this is about cats.
I think these two brothers like being together.

They can fight with each other.
Groom each other.
Use each other as pillows to sleep.
Entertain each other.
Be together each other.

Meow.

A Cat in its Cat Ship

Taken: 31 December 2006, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Here’s the black and white cat again. Isn’t it cute? People seem to love cute things more than pictures of buildings. I wonder why… Okay, I’m not trying to turn this website into a “Me and my Cat” website, but hey, at least I’m updating again.

The cat ship is a reference from Sinfest’s Percy (1 2 3 4). After reading those comics, I started naming empty boxes cat ships. And that’s what they are, I’ve got the pictures to prove it. Sinfest is my favorite comic, especially when it features Percy and Pooch. What is your favorite comic?

If you have a cat, does your cat have a cat ship too?
Hmm, do other pet animals do this as well?
