Kenneth

Taken: 21 July 2007, Barcelona, Spain.

Many years ago

Twenty-nine years ago, in March 1980, a kid with black hair, brown eyes, two arms and two legs was born in the east of The Netherlands. That was Kenneth. About a year later, we moved to the west and my sister Julie was born. Kenneth is currently residing in the city of Rotterdam.

Ѕukbіng is Kenneth’s princess :D .

Kenneth is a Chindo, which is a non-existing term for someone who is of Chinese-Indonesian descent. In short: his ancestors are from China, the later generations from Indonesia. His parents eventually (it’s a long story) moved to The Netherlands, which is where Kenneth was born and raised.

Part of the Ong Jap Lik family tree.

Kenneth’s faith

Kenneth accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He believes that Jesus is the Son of the ever loving God, and he believes in the power of the Holy Spirit. Kenneth was baptized on Easter 2002, which was 31 March.

Kenneth currently attends the Maranatha Kerk Vlaardingen.

I can’t afford to look stupid.

Kenneth’s education

Studied at UvA, Communication and Multimedia Design; Interaction Design at the HHS, and Computer Science at TUDelft.

For those alumni of you searching for Kenneth, he attended the C.S.G. Westland-Zuid (which was later called C.S.G. Aquamarijn, Accent College and now Lentiz Geuzencollege) high-school in Vlaardingen-West. His elementary school was Christelijke T.M. Gilhuisschool (now Ichtus), Maassluis.

Kenneth and languages

Kenneth has an interest in languages. Born in the Netherlands, his native language is Dutch. He speaks and understands some Indonesian (Apa kabar? Saya mau belajar bahasa Indonesia. Tolong ya! Saya bisa mengerti bahasa Indonesia, tapi sedikit saja). He has an interested in both Mandarin and Cantonese as well as Japanese.

Photography

Kenneth drags his camera everywhere. And he takes lots of pictures with it. Lots of pictures. He also like to earn some of the money spent on the gear by doing assignments like wedding photography, product photography, reunions and such (see also Kenneth Kwee Photography).

Some people say that they would take their compact camera when going on holidays. Kenneth doesn’t get that. Because at those holidays, you’re usually somewhere special, somewhere you’re usually not. And those times are exactly the times that every picture counts. That you want every image you take to be perfect. And thus, drag all the gear around.

All the pictures that he posts are taken by himself, most of the pictures throughout this website and gallery are his own pictures as well (some rare exceptions). Check the daily posts or the gallery for pictures.

Guitar

Musician

Kenneth also plays guitar, he has had one year of guitar lessons. Strumming along with Christian praise & worship songs or pop and rock songs is what he usually does.

Kenneth has two classic acoustic guitars. Aside from the acoustic ones, he used to have a (cheap) red Squier Strat and an electric bass guitar, but they are under someone else’s care now. He used to play the piano, but hardly ever plays anymore. Kenneth likes singing too.

Most stuff Kenneth plays are Christian praise & worship songs, easy pop and rock songs or other music he likes. And as long as it’s easy to sing along. Or not. Because he likes Indonesian, Chinese and Japanese music too, and doesn’t easily sing along with those.
